Competition Committee fines Maksimum Sement for trademark misuse and consumer deception
The company was fined for using the Karakalpak Sement trademark without authorization.
The Competition Committee has opened a case of unfair competition against Maksimum Sement, the agency’s press service reported.
The supervisory department in Khorezm received a complaint from cement producer Karakalpak Sement, alleging that Maksimum Sement had used its trademark without permission.
An inspection confirmed that Maksimum Sement had unlawfully used the brand, potentially harming the reputation of the rights holder. In addition, in July 2025 the company sold bags containing 48 kilograms of cement, while the packaging indicated a weight of 50 kilograms.
The company’s actions were deemed “consumer deception and unjustified collection of money.” Through underweighting, Maksimum Sement received an excess income of UZS 1.56 million.
A special commission initiated a case against the company for violating the laws “On Competition” and “On Consumer Protection.” Maksimum Sement was ordered to return the unjustified income, pay a financial penalty, and remedy the violations.
