Asaka Motors International and Rosatom discuss lithium-ion battery production in Uzbekistan
Asaka Motors International, an automobile importer, and Rosatom’s Fuel Division are exploring the localization of lithium-ion battery and energy storage system production in Uzbekistan.

According to Rosatom’s press service, Asaka Motors International (Uzbekistan) and the Fuel Division of Rosatom (Russia) signed a cooperation agreement on 25 September during World Atomic Week in Moscow. The document outlines joint efforts to establish local production of traction batteries for electric vehicles and stationary energy storage systems in Uzbekistan.
The partners plan to determine assembly line capacity, develop a component localization program, identify potential customers, and assess export opportunities to Central Asian countries and other international markets.
Asaka Motors International, founded in 2019, specializes in wholesale vehicle supplies from the UAE, South Korea, and China. The company is now expanding into industrial and high-technology projects in Uzbekistan.
Rosatom’s Fuel Division, managed by TVEL JSC, unites enterprises engaged in nuclear fuel fabrication, uranium conversion and enrichment. According to the company, TVEL supplies fuel for more than 70 power reactors in 15 countries, research reactors in 9 countries, as well as transport reactors for the Russian nuclear fleet.
The Fuel Division is also developing new businesses in chemistry, metallurgy, energy storage technologies, 3D printing, digital solutions, and nuclear decommissioning.
