According to a government resolution, the “Regulation on preparing for and conducting the population and agricultural census in Uzbekistan” has been approved.
Under the regulation, the population census will be conducted from January 15 to February 28, 2026. The official starting time is set for 00:00 on January 15, 2026, and the overall duration will be 45 days.
When collecting data on individuals and agricultural indicators, any changes occurring after the census date will not be taken into account. For instance, no census forms or related documents will be filled out for children born after January 15, 2026, whereas information will still be collected regarding persons who pass away after that date.
The following categories will not be included in the population count:
- Uzbek citizens who have been abroad for more than one year;
- Foreign nationals accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan as staff members of permanent missions of foreign states, international and intergovernmental organizations, as well as employees of foreign government institutions and their family members;
- Other individuals who enjoy diplomatic privileges and immunities under Uzbekistan’s international treaties.
Each respondent will be recorded according to their permanent or temporary residence. A house, apartment, or any other dwelling (or even a non-residential space) is considered a place of residence if a person spends most of their nighttime hours there for rest.
It should be recalled that at the end of September, the president signed a decree on conducting the population and agricultural census. The process will be carried out by employees of the “neighborhood seven” system using tablets.
