Navoi shop charged UZS 2 billion for two peppers after clerk error
A simple typing mistake in Navoi region resulted in a UZS 2 billion sales receipt for just two peppers, triggering a massive tax liability and a legal dispute. The Justice Ministry reported that the issue was ultimately resolved in court.

According to the ministry, a shop clerk mistakenly entered UZS 2 billion instead of UZS 20,000 when processing the payment for two peppers. The error led to a large tax debt being automatically recorded in the system.
Although the entrepreneur requested that the erroneous receipt be canceled, the regional tax office stated that receipt data could not be edited once issued. As a result, the problem remained unresolved.
The business owner later filed a complaint with the Navoi interdistrict administrative court, arguing that the tax office’s refusal to amend the record was unlawful.
The court ruled in favor of the entrepreneur, declaring the actions of the regional tax officials illegal and ordering the correction of the mistake.
