Turkey may introduce electronic work visas for citizens of Uzbekistan
Turkey has expressed readiness to consider launching an electronic work visa system for Uzbek citizens, as both countries move to strengthen cooperation on migration and internal affairs. The proposal was discussed during a meeting between Uzbekistan’s delegation and officials from Turkey’s Ministry of Interior in Ankara on 27 October.
According to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Turkish Deputy Minister of Interior Mehmet Aktaş praised the growing partnership between the two nations, noting that ties have deepened significantly under the leadership of both presidents, especially in law enforcement and migration management.
During the talks, the Turkish side said it would examine the possibility of allowing Uzbek citizens who entered Turkey on other types of visas to obtain work permits without having to leave the country – a move that could simplify legal employment procedures for many.
The two sides also discussed establishing a joint electronic database to track individuals residing illegally and the potential signing of a memorandum of understanding between their interior ministries. The document would aim to boost cooperation in combating illegal migration and facilitating the safe and voluntary return of citizens to their home countries.
