Khorezm police arrest group stealing money through mobile malware
Authorities in Khorezm have apprehended individuals involved in stealing money from citizens’ bank cards.
According to sources, the group created “apk” virus files and shared them through social media to mobile devices. Once the infected files were activated, the perpetrators gained access to the funds stored on the victims’ bank cards.
The exact number of affected citizens and the total amount stolen has not yet been determined.
A criminal case has been initiated against the suspects under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and they have been taken into custody as a preventive measure. Investigations are currently ongoing.
