According to the committee, inspections of 9,147 elevators installed in multi-storey residential buildings across the capital revealed a total of 37,103 defects. The findings were presented at a press conference dedicated to control and preventive measures aimed at ensuring industrial safety in Tashkent.
Chairman of the Committee, Olimjon Juraev, noted that since the beginning of the year, the Tashkent City Department conducted 121 control inspections, 10,381 preventive measures, and knowledge examinations for 2,755 enterprise employees. These inspections identified 1,145 violations of legal requirements, resulting in administrative penalties for 135 individuals.
Juraev also recalled a recent incident on 8 September in Tashkent’s Chilanzar district, where a crane collapsed at the construction site of the “Dombirobod City” residential complex, killing one person and severely injuring two others. He said that appropriate measures have since been taken to prevent similar accidents.
In addition, inspections of 17 parks and recreational zones in Tashkent revealed that 45 amusement rides lacked technical passports, 23 had no assigned responsible personnel for their maintenance and safety, and 39 were operating without valid seasonal permits. Their operations were subsequently suspended.
As part of a broader government directive, all elevators across the country have been inspected, including those in the capital. The detected deficiencies were recorded in the “Xavfsiz lift” (Safe Lift) digital platform managed by district authorities.
“In line with the Cabinet of Ministers’ resolution, elevators will soon display color-coded stickers to inform residents of their technical condition: green – operational, blue – partially faulty, yellow – faulty, and red – dangerous for use. Since this technical regulation takes effect on 1 July 2026, the use of faulty elevators will be strictly prohibited. To protect citizens from accidents and improve public awareness, we have already placed ‘Elevator has not passed technical inspection’ labels on 6,844 elevators that failed testing,” Juraev said.
