Placed in Group J alongside Paraguay, the Republic of Ireland, and Panama, Uzbekistan opened their campaign with a confident 2–1 victory over Paraguay on 5 November.
In their second match, Uzbekistan suffered a 2–1 setback against Ireland. That defeat left them second place in the group after two matches.
Uzbekistan closed out their group stage campaign in style, dominating Panama in their final game with a commanding 6–1 win.
Path to the round of 16
In the round of 32, Uzbekistan faced Croatia. The match ended 1–1 in regular time, and Uzbekistan advanced after winning the penalty shootout 4–3.
