Industrial enterprises face fivefold compensation for missing eco-monitoring stations
Industrial enterprises with high and medium environmental impact will be required to install monitoring stations, with increased compensation payments introduced for non-compliance.
From 1 March 2026, industrial enterprises classified as Category I and II based on their environmental impact will be required to install background monitoring stations on their premises, according to a presidential decree.
These stations must also be integrated with the National Environmental Monitoring Center of the Ecology Committee.
For enterprises that fail to install background monitoring stations or connect them to the National Center, compensation payments will be increased fivefold.
Additionally, starting from 1 March 2026, all legislative acts and legally binding directives providing exemptions from compensation payments for environmental damage will be annulled.
Category I enterprises include those with a high risk of environmental impact – such as highways, airports, oil depots, ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy plants, tobacco factories, cement plants, pharmaceutical factories, textile factories, and others.
Category II enterprises are those with a medium risk of environmental impact – including alcohol production and bottling facilities, paper and cardboard manufacturers, poultry farms, cotton processing plants, and others.
