Uzbekistan refutes social media reports on mutual recognition of Central Asian diplomas
The Agency for Assessment of Knowledge and Qualifications has issued a clarification regarding reports circulating on social media.
Unverified claims have been shared on social media suggesting that educational diplomas issued by Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will now be directly recognized within the territories of these states.
The Agency for Assessment of Knowledge and Qualifications released a statement addressing the matter.
In Uzbekistan, the recognition of diplomas issued by foreign countries is carried out in accordance with the Law on Education and the Regulation on the procedure for recognizing documents on foreign education, approved by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 620 of 24 July 2019.
This Regulation sets out the categories of foreign educational documents that are directly recognized within the territory of Uzbekistan.
It should be noted that the information circulating online is unfounded. At present, there is no international agreement on the mutual recognition of diplomas between Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan. In these countries, the recognition of foreign educational diplomas is conducted in line with the requirements established by their respective national laws.
