Legislative Chamber approves draft law on penalties for odometer tampering
The Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan has approved in the first reading a draft law introducing administrative liability for odometer falsification.
At the latest session of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, deputies approved the draft law “On amendments and additions to the Code of Administrative Liability of the Republic of Uzbekistan.”

The legislation establishes responsibility for failing to inform a buyer before the sale of a vehicle that the odometer readings, which record the mileage of the vehicle, have been altered or that the odometer device itself has been replaced.
The fines will range from 10 to 15 base calculation values (UZS 4.12–6.18 million).

An odometer is a device that measures a vehicle’s mileage. Its operation is based on counting the number of wheel rotations while the vehicle is in motion.
