Fergana records extremely hazardous air pollution levels, reaching historic high
Air pollution in Fergana reached a record and life-threatening level on the evening of 30 November, according to real-time monitoring data from IQAir.
At 20:00, the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) surged to 1093, placing it in the “extremely hazardous” category — a level that poses serious risks to human health. An hour later, at 21:00, the index slightly decreased but remained dangerously high at 963.
Local authorities reported that municipal services are carrying out continuous watering of streets, road edges, and roadside vegetation in an effort to suppress dust concentrations. Irrigation in green areas is also being conducted throughout the day following a set schedule.
Kun.uz sources currently on a business trip to Fergana noted that the air quality there is even worse than in Tashkent, which itself has been struggling with persistent pollution episodes in recent days.
