Avalanche risk declared in six regions of Uzbekistan
An avalanche risk has been declared in six regions of Uzbekistan due to forecast precipitation and fluctuations in air temperatures.
Uzhydromet has warned of heightened avalanche danger in the country’s mountainous areas between December 17–22, citing expected snowfall and changing temperatures.
Affected areas:
• Kashkadarya region – Dehkonobod, Kitob, Kamashi and Shahrisabz districts;
• Surkhandarya region – Boysun, Kumkurgan, Sariosiyo and Uzun districts;
• Samarkand region – Nurobod, Kushrabat, Samarkand and Urgut districts;
• Jizzakh region – Bakhmal and Zomin districts;
• Tashkent region – Bostanlyk, Parkent and Ohangaron districts, including the Chatkal Range;
• Namangan region – Pop district.
“We urge residents of mountainous areas, tourists, and drivers traveling through mountain routes to exercise caution,” the statement said.
