During the meeting, the Emperor of Japan warmly welcomed President Mirziyoyev and noted that the visit was an important milestone in further strengthening Uzbekistan–Japan relations of friendship and strategic partnership.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his deep respect to Emperor Naruhito and conveyed his gratitude for Japan’s consistent support for the irreversible reforms being implemented in New Uzbekistan.
The sides also noted that, despite the considerable geographical distance between Uzbekistan and Japan, the two nations are united by similarities in mentality, traditions, and family values, as well as by historical ties whose roots trace back to the era of the Great Silk Road.

It was emphasized that bilateral cooperation is expanding steadily, particularly in the fields of education, human capital development, and cultural and humanitarian exchanges. To date, more than 3,000 Uzbek specialists have completed training programs in Japan, over 440 have received higher education there through scholarship programs, and the Japanese language is taught at seven universities in Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the visit, “Days of Uzbek culture” were held in Tokyo. It was also announced that an archaeological exhibition dedicated to Uzbekistan’s culture and history is planned to be held next year in several Japanese cities.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Emperor Naruhito to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan.
