Tax Committee refunds nearly UZS 72 billion in VAT to businesses
The State Tax Committee has refunded nearly UZS 71.8 billion in previously paid taxes to entrepreneurs operating in several key sectors.
The refunds were made as part of government measures aimed at supporting entrepreneurship and easing the tax burden. Specifically, a portion of value-added tax (VAT) paid to the state budget was reimbursed to tour operators and hotels, public catering businesses, and livestock and poultry farms.
As of December 23, 2025, VAT refunds were distributed as follows:
- 42 tour operators – UZS 2.4 billion;
- 171 hotels – UZS 11.2 billion;
- 691 public catering enterprises – UZS 52.9 billion;
- 81 livestock and poultry farms – UZS 5.3 billion.
In total, businesses across these sectors received UZS 71.8 billion in VAT reimbursements.
Earlier, authorities reported that the highest risk of tax evasion in Uzbekistan had been identified in the trade and public catering sectors. In addition, the State Tax Committee has disclosed how much in reward payments was issued over 11 months to individuals who reported tax violations.
