According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Iran, no Uzbek nationals have been recorded among those injured during the ongoing demonstrations.
“We ask citizens of Uzbekistan currently staying in Iran to refrain from participating in rallies and demonstrations, to avoid crowded places, and to strictly observe personal safety measures,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
If necessary, citizens may contact the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Tehran at the following phone numbers: +982122299780 and +982122832025.
It should be recalled that mass protests in Iran began on December 28, 2025, and spread to a number of cities across the country. The demonstrations were held against the backdrop of a worsening economic situation, including rising inflation, increasing food prices, and the weakening of the Iranian rial.
According to the US-based human rights organization Human Rights Activist News Agency, as of January 12, a total of 646 people have been killed during the protests. Among them are 505 protesters, including nine children, 133 members of the military and law enforcement agencies, one prosecutor, and seven civilians who did not participate in the demonstrations.
In addition, another 579 reports of deaths are currently under review.
