Uzbekistan to update its foreign policy concept
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that, amid ongoing geopolitical changes worldwide, it is necessary to revise Uzbekistan’s Foreign Policy Concept. “The new concept must comprehensively and coherently reflect our country’s long-term strategic goals, the logic of our domestic reforms, and our national interests in economic diplomacy, security, investment, exports, transport and logistics, as well as water and climate issues,” the president said.

It was stated at a meeting chaired by Shavkat Mirziyoyev that global geopolitical changes, instability in the system of international relations, regional confrontations, and global economic transformations require foreign policy to be continuously reviewed and adapted to national interests and the demands of the times.
“As a result of our open, pragmatic, and balanced foreign policy in recent years, Uzbekistan’s standing and influence on the international stage have been steadily increasing. At the same time, changes in the global security architecture, the emergence of new economic alliances, trade routes, and transformations in technology and energy markets require an even more active, clearly targeted, and results-oriented approach from our foreign policy,” the president said.
In this regard, it was emphasized that Uzbekistan’s Foreign Policy Concept should be revised, its priority areas reconsidered, and specific tasks defined to protect national interests and strengthen the country’s position in the international arena.
“The new concept must comprehensively and coherently reflect our country’s long-term strategic goals, the logic of our domestic reforms, and our national interests in economic diplomacy, security, investment, exports, transport and logistics, as well as water and climate issues,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
To ensure the effective organization of work, it was stipulated that additional funding will be allocated to each embassy. In order to properly recognize the service of diplomats, it was proposed to establish the honorary title “Honored Diplomat of the Republic of Uzbekistan.”
