Uzhydromet warns of heavy snow and sharp cold snap
Uzbekistan is expected to experience a sharp drop in temperatures and snowfall between January 22 and 24, as cold and moist air masses move into the country, the national weather service Uzhydromet has warned.

According to the forecast, precipitation is expected across much of the country on the night of January 22 and into the morning of January 23, mainly in the form of snow. Icy conditions may develop on roads in some areas, creating potentially hazardous travel conditions.
In foothill and mountainous regions, snowfall is forecast for January 22–23, with heavy snow possible in certain locations.
Meteorologists also warned of strengthening winds in parts of the country, with speeds reaching 15–20 m/s and gusts of up to 22–25 m/s in some areas.
Temperatures are expected to fall significantly during the cold spell. Nighttime temperatures on January 22–24 are forecast to drop to −3 to −8°C across most regions, with daytime temperatures ranging from −3 to +2°C. In northern parts of the country, nighttime temperatures could fall as low as −12 to −15°C, while daytime highs are expected to remain between −2 and −5°C.
Uzhydromet urged residents and drivers to exercise caution, particularly in areas affected by snow, ice, and strong winds.
