Ravshan Mamatov dismissed as Director of Drugs and Firearms Control Agency
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has dismissed Ravshan Mamatov from his position as Director of the Agency for Control over Narcotics and Firearms, following official criticism of the agency’s performance.
Mamatov had served as the agency’s director since August 2024.
His removal comes after the president publicly criticized the agency under his leadership and issued an official warning calling for improvements in its operations.
Earlier, Supreme Court reported sharp toll of drug convictions across the country. In the first eleven months of 2025, more than 2,600 people were jailed over drug offenses.
