Gas issues overtake electricity as top energy complaint in 2025
Complaints about electricity supply disruptions in Uzbekistan declined by nearly 40% in 2025, according to data released by the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan. At the same time, natural and liquefied gas issues accounted for a larger share of public appeals.

Last year, the ministry received more than 108,300 appeals from citizens, down by one third compared to the previous year, or by approximately 53,000 cases.
While electricity previously accounted for the majority of inquiries, natural and liquefied gas took the lead in 2025, representing 45% of the total compared to 41% for electricity
More than 44,000 appeals were related to electricity supply, marking a 39.8% decrease year on year.
The most frequent subject of inquiries was the construction and repair of energy infrastructure (specifically power line poles and transformers), totaling 17.4 thousand units – a decrease of 35.8%
Reports of electricity outages ranked second, totaling 14,000 complaints – a sharp decline of 49.7%.
Other electricity-related issues included:
- Malfunctions of electricity meters – 4,598 complaints, down 16.6%
- Payments and outstanding debts for electricity – 3,570 cases, down 48.2%
- Low voltage in power grids – 2,388 cases, down 25.8%
- Actions of electricity supply personnel – 1,997 complaints, down 19.3%
The number of appeals concerning natural and liquefied gas, including propane, decreased by 29% – from 67,900 to 48,200 cases.
More than 40% of gas-related complaints involved problems with filling gas cylinders, totaling 19,630 cases, down 33.4%.
Second place was taken by issues related to connecting homes to gas networks and opening accounts – 7,308 cases, up 2.6%.
At the same time, complaints about faulty gas meters increased significantly. The number of such appeals rose by 16.8% – from 6,184 to 7,225.
Other common issues included:
- Gas pressure in distribution networks – 5,101 cases, down 56.6%
- Payments and debts for gas – 4,802 cases, down 10.5%
- Provision of new gas cylinders – 4,186 cases, down 48.4%
The ministry also reported that complaints concerning electricity and gas tariffs and pricing fell by half, reaching 1,077 cases.
Appeals on other energy-related matters declined by 16.9% – from 17,900 to 14,900.
Overall, the data indicate a substantial reduction in electricity-related complaints in 2025, while gas supply issues have become relatively more prominent in the structure of public appeals.
