Uzbekistan and EU officials discuss situation at Afghanistan – Pakistan border
The Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev, held an online meeting with the European Union’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Gilles Bertrand, to discuss regional security issues, including the situation along the Afghanistan – Pakistan border.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the parties exchanged views on key regional security matters during the virtual meeting.
Particular attention was given to the developments along the Afghanistan – Pakistan border, which remains an area of concern for regional stability.
The sides also discussed prospects for deepening cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union on issues related to Afghanistan and broader regional security.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in maintaining a systematic and constructive dialogue on regional security and cooperation.
They also agreed to continue holding regular consultations to coordinate approaches and exchange assessments on developments in the region.
