Statistics Committee lists Uzbekistan’s least populated districts and cities
Uzbekistan’s permanent population reached 38,236,704 people as of January 1, 2026, according to data from the National Statistics Committee.
The committee has also published a list of the 10 districts and cities with the smallest populations in the country.
The ranking is based on the size of the permanent population in each administrative unit.
- Gozgon city – 9,500 people
- Tomdi district – 15,200 people
- Shirin city – 19,400 people
- Karovulbazar district – 20,700 people
- Bozatov district – 21,800 people
- Yangiabad district – 30,500 people
- Muynak district – 34,100 people
- Konimekh district – 36,900 people
- Takhtakupir district – 38,900 people
- Uchkuduk district – 39,900 people
Most of the districts and cities on the list are located in Karakalpakstan and Navoi region, areas known for their vast territories and relatively low population density.
