Uzbekistan repatriates nearly 33,000 citizens from Middle Eastern countries
Uzbekistan has repatriated nearly 33,000 of its citizens from Middle Eastern countries, with evacuation efforts continuing in several states across the region.
According to the MFA press service, the evacuation of Uzbek citizens from Saudi Arabia has now been completed, while repatriation operations from other countries in the Middle East are ongoing.
As of the morning of March 13, a total of 32,934 Uzbek citizens have been returned from the region. Of this number, 2,735 people were brought back from Saudi Arabia on charter flights to Tashkent.
Authorities said evacuation from several countries is being carried out through transit routes in neighboring states.
On March 12, another 49 Uzbek citizens were transported from Qatar to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia to board flights to Tashkent. The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Doha is currently forming another group of citizens for repatriation via Dubai.
On the same day, diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan in the United Arab Emirates assisted 147 citizens in departing for Tashkent.
Assistance from diplomatic missions
Uzbek diplomatic missions across the region continue to assist citizens seeking to return home.
The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Iran helped arrange the departure of five citizens through neighboring countries.
Meanwhile, in Israel, Uzbek diplomats organized the return of four citizens through Egypt.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said coordination between embassies and partner countries remains ongoing to facilitate the safe return of Uzbek nationals still in the region.
