Over 100 Uzbek workers in Russia to receive unpaid wages after diplomatic talks
A group of Uzbek migrant workers in Russia is set to receive more than 2 million rubles (more than UZS 300 million) in unpaid wages following a successful intervention by Uzbek diplomatic and migration officials.
Representatives of Uzbekistan’s General Consulate in Yekaterinburg and the Migration Agency visited Tobolsk in the Tyumen region, where they met with more than 100 Uzbek nationals employed by the sole proprietor IZHPROSERVICE and the contractor LLC SADKOM, Dunyo reported.
An on-site review found that SADKOM had delayed wage payments for February and March to 26 Uzbek workers. Subsequent talks involving the general contractor, LLC SIBUR, and subcontractors led to the acknowledgment of the arrears and a commitment to settle them.
The 26 workers are expected to receive a total of RUB 2 million in the coming days, officials said. Authorities also reached an agreement to repay wage arrears within a week to around 80 additional Uzbek nationals who had previously left the company without receiving their salaries.
During the visit, consular officials provided legal guidance on documentation and migration compliance, and inspected working and living conditions.
Uzbek authorities said protecting citizens abroad and ensuring the timely payment of wages remain priorities, adding that the consulate will monitor the disbursement of funds.
