Uzhydromet warns of potential mudslides and floods in nine regions

The Center for Hydrometeorological Services (Uzhydromet) has issued an emergency alert regarding the potential for mudslides and flash floods in several regions of the republic.

According to the forecast, heavy rainfall expected between April 7-9 is likely to trigger flood events in the foothills and mountainous areas of nine provinces.

The warning covers a vast geographical area, with southern and central regions particularly at risk. In Kashkadarya region, the districts of Yakkabog, Dehkonobod, Chiroqchi, Kitob, Shakhrisabz, Kamashi, and Guzor are on high alert. Similarly, Surkhandarya region may face flooding in Sariosiyo, Uzun, Oltinsoy, Denov, Boysun, Sherobod, Shurchi, Kumkurghon, and Muzrobot districts.

Central Uzbekistan is also expected to be impacted. In Samarkand region, nine districts including Urgut, Samarqand, Bulunghur, and Kattakurghon are listed in the warning. Navoi region’s Khatirchi, Navbakhor, Nurota, Konimekh, and Karmana districts are likewise vulnerable, as are several districts in Jizzakh region, specifically Zomin, Bakhmal, Ghallaorol, Sharof Rashidov, Forish, and Yangiobod.

In the Tashkent region, the threat extends to the districts of Ohangaron, Bostonliq, Parkent, Piskent, Ortachirchiq, and Yuqorichirchiq, as well as the cities of Angren and Olmaliq. The Fergana Valley provinces are not exempt from the risk. Residents in the Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortoq, Chust, Namangan, and Yangiqurghon districts of Namangan region should remain vigilant. In Fergana region, the districts of Sokh, Shokhimardon, Fergana, and Beshariq are at risk, while Andijan region faces threats in nearly ten districts and the city of Khanobod.

Authorities advise residents and visitors in these mountainous and foothill zones to take necessary precautions and stay informed through official weather updates during this three-day period of expected precipitation.
