Uzhydromet issues flash flood warnings for nine regions across Uzbekistan

According to Uzhydromet, the weather conditions may trigger natural disasters in several specific districts. In Kashkadarya region, the warning covers Yakkabog, Dehkonobod, Chiroqchi, Kitob, Shahrisabz, Qamashi, and Guzor districts. Similarly, in Surkhandarya, residents of Sariosiyo, Uzun, Oltinsoy, Denov, Boysun, Sherobod, Shurchi, Kumkurgan, and Muzrobot districts are urged to be vigilant.

Samarkand region also faces significant risks, particularly in Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurobod, Kushrabot, Kattakurgan, Payaryk, Jomboy, and Ishtikhon districts. In Navoi, the threat extends to Khatirchi, Navbakhor, Nurata, Konimekh, and Karmana districts. Meanwhile, Jizzakh region’s Bakhmal, Gallaorol, Sharof Rashidov, Forish, Yangiobod, and Zomin districts have been placed on alert.

In Tashkent region, potential flood zones include Ohangaron, Bostanlyk, Parkent, Piskent, Orta Chirchiq, and Yuqori Chirchiq districts, as well as the cities of Angren and Olmalyk. The Fergana Valley is also expected to be affected, with warnings issued for Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortoq, Chust, Namangan, and Yangiqurgon districts in Namangan; the Sokh, Shakhimardan, Fergana, and Besharyk districts in Fergana; and several districts in Andijan including Asaka, Jalaquduq, Kurgontepa, Pakhtaobod, Izboskan, Khojaobod, Marhamat, and the city of Khanobod.

Uzhydromet has specifically called upon citizens living in these foothill and mountainous areas, as well as vacationers and drivers traveling through these regions, to take necessary safety precautions. Beyond the risk of mudflows in the mountains, there is a heightened probability of rainwater accumulation in other parts of the republic, which could lead to localized flooding in urban and residential areas.
