No more office visits: Uzbekistan moves mobile number transfers online
Uzbekistan has launched a new online service on the my.gov.uz portal, enabling users to digitally transfer mobile phone number ownership to another individual.

Under the new procedure, both the current and prospective owners must confirm the application via the MyID biometric identification system. While the service cost varies by mobile operator, several providers offer free transfers for close relatives.
This rollout coincides with new regulations taking effect today, April 22, which require banks to deny mobile application registration if a user's phone number does not match their Personal Identification Number (PINFL). Essentially, the mobile number linked to a banking app must now be officially registered in the user’s own name.
Previously, ownership transfers required both parties to visit a mobile operator’s office in person. This new digital option removes that hurdle, streamlining the process significantly. The service is being phased in across all mobile operators, with processing times typically ranging from one to five business days.
