Uzbekistan to raise electricity and natural gas tariffs from June 1

The Cabinet of Ministers has issued a resolution mandating an increase in electricity and natural gas prices across the country starting June 1. The adjustments target both residential and industrial sectors, introducing new consumption brackets while maintaining a tiered "social norm" system designed to encourage energy efficiency.

New electricity pricing structures

For large industrial enterprises, budgetary organizations, and various legal entities classified under groups I, II, and IV, the electricity rate will be set at UZS 1,100 per kWh. Residential consumers (Group III) will see a more complex adjustment, including the introduction of a new intermediate consumption tier of up to 500 kWh.

Residents of apartment buildings and dormitories equipped with electric stoves will pay UZS 325 per kWh for consumption up to 200 kWh per month. Usage between 201–500 kWh will be charged at UZS 450, while the rate for 501–1,000 kWh will rise to UZS 550.

For all other residential consumers, the base rate for the initial 200 kWh will be UZS 650. The newly established tier of 201–500 kWh will cost UZS 900 per kWh. Higher consumption levels will trigger significantly steeper rates: UZS 1,100 for 501–1,000 kWh, UZS 1,600 for 1,001–5,000 kWh, and UZS 1,900 for 5,001–10,000 kWh. Those exceeding 10,001 kWh per month will face a top-tier rate of UZS 2,200 per kWh.

Adjustments to natural gas rates

The industrial sector, including major entities such as the Navoi and Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combines (NGMK and AGMK) and Uzmetkombinat, will face a gas tariff of UZS 2,000 per cubic meter. Meanwhile, the rate for compressed natural gas (CNG) filling stations is set to rise to UZS 2,700.

For the general public, the minimum tariff for natural gas will be UZS 1,100 per cubic meter. This rate applies to consumption of up to 500 cubic meters during the heating season (November–February) and up to 100 cubic meters during the rest of the year.

Beyond these limits, seasonal pricing will apply. During the winter months, consumption between 501–2,500 cubic meters will cost UZS 2,000 per cubic meter, scaling up to UZS 3,300 for usage exceeding 10,000 cubic meters. From March to October, the same progressive rates apply for any consumption exceeding the base 100-cubic meter threshold.
