Six earthquakes in three days: Bukhara region remains on seismic alert
Bukhara region has experienced its sixth earthquake within a three-day span, following a sequence of continuous tremors centered in Jondor district.
The latest seismic event registered a magnitude of 4.0, marking a slight increase in intensity compared to the earlier tremors recorded in the area, according to the Republican Centre for Seismoprognostic Monitoring of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The recent series of tremors began early on May 20 at 01:40. The local seismic network subsequently recorded two further incidents on May 21 at 12:29 and 15:47, followed by a fourth event early on May 22 at 01:32. The fifth and sixth tremors followed shortly after, cementing a highly active 24-hour cycle where five of the six total shocks originated from the exact same epicenter in Jondor.
Residents in nearby towns and settlements felt distinct vibrations during the latest magnitude 4.0 quake. The shaking reached an intensity of 2–3 points in the town of Gazli. Meanwhile, neighboring communities in the Peshku, Qorakol, and Jondor districts experienced an intensity of 2 points.
No damage or casualties have been reported in connection with the repeated, low-to-moderate magnitude tremors, which local authorities and seismologists continue to monitor closely.
