Abdukodir Khusanov becomes Asia’s most valuable footballer as market value surges to €50 million
Uzbekistan national team and Manchester City defender Abdukodir Khusanov has entered the top 10 list of English Premier League (EPL) players with the highest market value growth, according to the latest valuation update by the football statistics portal Transfermarkt.
The 22-year-old central defender saw his market value surge by €15 million, reaching an impressive total valuation of €50 million. This rapid appreciation establishes the Uzbek international as the most expensive football player in Asia, while also making him the highest-valued Premier League player from the post-Soviet states.
Khusanov completed his high-profile transfer to Manchester City from French side Lens in 2025. He quickly established himself as a reliable defensive presence in England, making 37 appearances across all competitions during the current campaign. Transfermarkt analysts highlighted his smooth transition into English football, noting that the young defender has successfully adapted to the physical demands of the league and assumed a pivotal role in the Manchester City backline over recent months.
The global football portal’s latest English Premier League update places Khusanov among the top ten biggest value gainers in the league. The complete list of the ten most upgraded Premier League players features Junior Kroupi of Bournemouth at €70 million (+€30 million), Rayan Cherki of Manchester City at €90 million (+€5 million), and Nico O'Reilly of Manchester City at €70 million (+€20 million). They are followed by Manchester United's Kobbie Mainoo at €70 million (+€20 million), Bournemouth's Ryan at €60 million (+€20 million), Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson at €75 million (+€15 million), and Brentford's Igor Thiago at €65 million (+€15 million). Khusanov ranks alongside West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes, who is also valued at €50 million (+€15 million), followed by Newcastle's William Osula at €28 million (+€13 million).
At the absolute peak of the overall Premier League valuation rankings, Khusanov’s Manchester City teammate Erling Haaland continues to hold the number one spot, with a commanding market value of €200 million.
On the international stage, Khusanov is currently training with the Uzbekistan national team as they finalize their preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, scheduled to kick off on June 11. The Uzbek squad faces a competitive group stage campaign, where they are drawn to play against Portugal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Colombia.
