Applicants with B1 language certificates to receive 75 percent of maximum score in entrance exams
Applicants to undergraduate programs in Uzbekistan whose entrance examination subjects include a foreign language will receive 75 percent of the maximum possible score if they hold a B1-level language certificate.
This measure was outlined in a joint decision by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, which took effect on June 3. The decision introduces changes and additions to the official list of nationally and internationally recognized certificates that determine proficiency in foreign languages and general education subjects.
Under the new regulations, the compliance level for the TOEFL iBT English language certificate will now be determined on a 1–6 point scale.
For university admissions, the provision allowing applicants with a nationally or internationally recognized B1 certificate to claim 75 percent of the maximum points allocated for that specific foreign language subject aligns with an earlier Cabinet of Ministers decree dated September 13, 2025.
The joint decision also revises policies for teaching staff. When calculating monthly salary bonuses for educators, the validity periods of TKT, TESOL, TEFL, and TESL certificates in English will now be taken into account.
Teachers at vocational education institutions who instruct specialized subjects in a foreign language will be entitled to monthly bonuses based on their base salary. A recognized B2-level certificate will yield a 50 percent bonus, while a C1-level certificate will qualify teachers for a 100 percent monthly bonus.
Furthermore, math teachers will receive bonuses if they score 750 or higher on the mathematics section of the Digital SAT. For music culture and physical education teachers in general secondary schools, bonuses will be awarded to those holding language certificates at level B+ and above.
