Private vehicle ownership in Uzbekistan sees annual jump of over 344,000 units
The number of motor vehicles registered to individual citizens in Uzbekistan has exceeded 4.9 million as of April 1, 2026.
Data from the National Statistics Committee reveals that the country’s private vehicle fleet expanded by 344,600 units over the course of a single year.
Out of the 4,903,100 privately owned vehicles currently registered, passenger cars make up the vast majority, accounting for 4,552,300 units or 92.8 percent of the total fleet. The remaining portion of the country's personal transport includes 330,300 trucks, 7,500 minibuses, 7,200 special-purpose vehicles, and 5,800 buses.
The steady rise in private vehicle ownership points to a broader trend of growing domestic demand and increased population mobility. However, the expanding vehicle fleet also signals a growing need for modernized traffic management strategies and robust infrastructure development to keep pace with increasing urban congestion.
