The proposed amendments to the Tax Code are intended to reduce the environmental impact of greenhouse farms in Tashkent and the Tashkent region while encouraging the adoption of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient heating technologies.

Under the draft, greenhouses located in the city of Tashkent and the Yuqori Chirchiq, Qibray, Yangiyul, Zangiota and Tashkent districts of Tashkent region would be subject to a land tax set at 10 times the rate applied to agricultural land.

The proposal also stipulates that these greenhouses would no longer be eligible for existing tax exemptions.

The higher tax rates would not apply to greenhouses where heating systems, including boiler facilities, have been dismantled or to those using electric heating systems.

Information on such facilities would be provided by the authorized state body responsible for ecology and environmental protection.

Public discussion of the draft law will continue until July 31.
