Flow of tourists to Uzbekistan increasing unprecedentedly
Flow of tourists to Uzbekistan has increased considerably in January-August of this year, the State Committee for Tourism Development of Uzbekistan said.
As stated in the Committee’s report, the number of tourists from the United States, Canada, and other countries of the Americas reached 9.9 thousand people over the first 9 months of 2018. It shows 48% increase compared to the same period last year (6.6 thousand).
“From July 15 to August 30, North American citizens ranked second after China in the number of issued electronic visas (962 people) on the E-visa system. Of these, 203 are from Canada,” the State Tourism Committee noted. “Uzbekistan and the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) have signed a memorandum of cooperation on improving the republic’s image in the United States.”
It is stated that the flow of tourists from Italy increased by 47% and from Poland 57%.
Citizens of Turkey, Albania, Iraq, South Africa, Bulgaria, Romania and Cyprus who visited Uzbekistan in the period mentioned grew by 92% in total.
