“Uzbek Tigers” refused to participate in 2019 in competitions of the AIBA World Series of Boxing led by Gafur Rakhimov.

According to a Kazakhstani media reports, the team has been disbanded, its funding has been discontinued accordingly.

One of the team coaches Ziyoiddin Tuiganbayev stated that this decision was made due to the fact that the boxers want to be selected and compete successfully at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. The first tournament, which the Uzbek national team will participate in 2019, is the traditional competition "Strandzha" in Sofia on February 13-17.

"Uzbek Tigers" debuted in the World Series Boxing in 2016. The team is the bronze medalist of the 2016 competition. It should be noted that in December 2017, Murodjon Akhmadaliev and Shakhram Giyasov left the team.

The World Series of Boxing (WSB) was created in 2008 by the World Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA). It is the most prestigious and large-scale tournament, which is held under the auspices of AIBA.

It should be recalled that in November 2018, the election of Gafur Rakhimov to the presidency of AIBA caused concern and discontent with the International Olympic Committee.
