Chicago based Uzbeks help Africans with potable water
Activists of the Uzbek-American Association in Chicago helped provide the people of Cameroon with drinking water.
Uzbeks living in Chicago launched a fundraising marathon to fund a charity project called “Bulok-3” to install water well in the African region.
By August 2018, they were able to collect donations in the amount of $4,500. A well was installed in the village of Bardup in Cameroon.
“I thank all the friends who supported this project. I am very proud that I became a member of this community,” member of the association Farrukh Shamsutdinov wrote on his Facebook page.
This is the third well established in African countries with the support of the association. For example, in May of 2018, an artesian well with a depth of 4.5 thousand meters appeared in the village of Vassi in the African Republic of Chad, in which about 1,700 people live.
According to the UN, around the world, more than 750 million people need clean drinking water, 37% of them live in Africa.
