Shakhram Giyasov to fight Edgar Puerta on Feb 24
Olympic silver medal winner Shakhram Giyasov (6-0, 5) will be returning to the ring on February 23rd in Mexico, (February 24th Tashkent time), the press service of the National Olympic Committee reported.
The fight, which has been announced at very short notice, will see Giyasov battle against Mexican veteran Edgar Puerta (25-11-1, 19), who is best known for losses to the likes of Takashi Miura and Miguel Roman.
The bout will be held in Tijuana though specific details aren't clear yet.
It is worth reminding that on Nov 24, Shakhram Giyosov, in his last fight, faced an experienced Mexican boxer Miguel Zamudio (51-11-1, 25 KOs). The Uzbek athlete then acted proactively and delivered heavy blows to his opponent. During the first round of the fight, the Mexican sportsman experienced two knockdowns and had no choice but to admit defeat. Consequently, Shakhram Giyosov was announced as a winner by a technical knockout.
