On February 22, the first international boxing tournament of the year in Yekaterinburg was held at KRK Uralets. During the event, ten pairs of boxers from various countries, including Colombia, Mexico, Nicaragua, South Africa, the Philippines and Uzbekistan entered the ring.

The very first bout with the participation of our compatriot ended in knockout. The undefeated Ravshanbek Umurzakov from Uzbekistan faced the Filipino Rimar Metuda. From the very first minutes, an experienced representative of the Uzbek boxing took control of the bout and kept his opponent at a distance, managing to deliver powerful blows. Already in the fourth round, Umurzakov sent the Filipino a knockout, having a great combination of punches and bringing Metuda down.

After the fight, Umurzakov admitted that he was expecting for eight rounds of fight and did not expect an early victory.

“I want to say that today I was confronted by a very experienced boxer, who had over 15 fights in pro boxing. I was expecting for a hard fight in all 8 rounds because I knew that Metuda had never experienced KOs in his career. I am glad that I managed to finish the fight in the fourth round,” Umurzakov said.
