The difficult situation with water shortage in our country last summer has caused some problems in the field of agriculture.
In particular, in Tashkent region, the water reserves in Chorbog, Tashkent and Akhangaran reservoirs have dropped by 7% compared with 2017 and it has created a challenge for irrigation of crops on nearly 400,000 hectares of irrigated land. So, what is the situation this year? How much water do water reservoirs hold?
According to the Regional Water Management Department, today the water reserves in these reservoirs have decreased compared to the same period last year. In particular, at the Chorbog water reservoir - 512,5, the Tashkent water reservoir - 161,47 and the Akhangaran water reservoir holds 79,05 million cubic meters of water. In reservoirs, the water resources have decreased by 135 million cubic meters compared to the same period of 2018.
These statistical data load a huge responsibility on the sector's officials. It should be noted that this year, more snow has fallen on mountains compared to the previous year. Also, taking into account the spring rainfall ahead, there should be no water-related problems in summer.
