Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan agree to share military airfields
Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to share their military airfields. This was announced by the Kazakhstani Deputy Minister of Defense Baurjan Tortaev, in response to a request from the IIA "Kazinform".
The agreement between the defense ministries of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan on the organization of reception, aerodrome-maintenance and protection of military aircraft at military aerodromes determines the mechanism of mutual settlements for refueling military aircraft with fuel, oils, lubricants, special liquids and gases.
Another agreement, signed by the defense ministries of the two countries, on cooperation in the field of air defense is aimed at resolving issues of operational interaction of duty forces and timely exchange of information on the aerospace situation, assistance to aircraft in distress, joint training of troops, exchange of experience in the field of improving air defense forces, the agency said.
Both documents were signed on April 15 within the framework of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit to Uzbekistan. The leaders of the two countries declared their intention to promote further development of cooperation in the defense and military-technical sphere, as well as in the field of space research and development.
