Procedure for considering bills at parliament changed
The law on regulation of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan has been amended, Norma writes.
Redistribution of powers occurred in the Lower Chamber of the parliament. The Speaker of the Legislative Chamber will personally define the committee responsible for preliminary consideration of the draft law, determine the documents to be submitted to him and the faction, and also set a deadline for submitting opinions, proposals and conclusions. Previously, these responsibilities were under the competence of the Council Chamber.
In addition, the deadline for submitting a bill to the responsible committee following the results of preliminary discussions for consideration by the Council is now fixed – 2 months from the date of receipt of the bill. The Council can no longer set anymore.
The coordination group is excluded from the process, which acted under the Council consisting of three employees of the chamber apparatus and was engaged in the registration of received projects. It used to inform the Council members and deal with subsequent follow-up. Based on amendments, it can be concluded that it will be disbanded.
