Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan to launch high-speed train on the Samarkand-Turkestan route
Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are working on launching a high-speed train on the Samarkand-Turkestan route, Ambassador of Kazakhstan Darkhan Satybaldy said during an interview with Dunyo.
According to him, the prospects for the unification of the tourism potential of the two countries are clearly manifest, the base of which in the form of a well-established transport connection already exists.
“The issue of launching a high-speed Samarkand-Turkestan train is being further developed. The next stage is the introduction of the so-called Central Asian Schengen – Silk Visa, and subsequently the provision of a general preferential tour package and the creation of a common tourist infrastructure from the construction of hotels, roads to providing green corridors at border crossing points,” the diplomat said.
The launch of the new route will be the second high-speed rail link between the countries. In March 2017, the “Tulpar-Talgo” high-speed train began to operate on the route Tashkent-Almaty-Tashkent. Travel time is approximately 17-18 hours.
Stopovers along the route: Otar, Chu, Taraz, Shymkent and Saryagash.
