Uzbekistan becomes most popular holiday destination among Russian tourists
Tutu.ru travel service experts found out how the preferences of Russian travelers changed after the ban on direct flights to Georgia.
Service experts analyzed all purchased tickets with a travel date in August 2019 and compared the data with the same period in 2018.
In August 2019, a list of popular tourist destinations changed. Armenia entered the TOP-3 list, the demand for which grew by a third. Uzbekistan moved to first place with a passenger share of 9.8%. Also, travelers began to choose Montenegro, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey more often in August. Tourists fly to Georgia via Yerevan, Baku or Minsk. These are the three most popular connecting cities.
Georgia, which was among most popular tourist destinations last year, fell to the 20th line. The share of those who are planning to spend their holidays in Tbilisi or Batumi fell by 75%, that is, by four times. The average price of one way ticket to Georgia in August 2019 increased by 31%.
