Bulgaria may organize internship courses for Uzbek scientists
In Sofia, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiyev attended the fifth session of the Bulgarian-Uzbek intergovernmental commission on economic and scientific-technical cooperation.
Ganiyev drew attention to the unrealized potential in trade and added that Uzbekistan is interested in importing high-quality products from Bulgaria in the fields of pharmaceuticals, chemical industry, technology and agriculture. Commodity exchange between Bulgaria and Uzbekistan has been increasing in recent years. In 2018, it grew by 1.3% compared to 2017 and reached $20 million.
During his stay in Sofia, Elyor Ganiyev held meetings and negotiations with representatives of the scientific-technical and business circles of Bulgaria to discuss further steps to expand bilateral cooperation and issues of interaction in the scientific-technical field.
Within the framework of the meeting with the director of the Joint Innovation Center (JIC) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) Marin Pandev, the possibilities of implementing joint research projects were discussed. The Bulgarian side was invited to consider organizing internship courses for Uzbek scientists. An interest was expressed in establishing cooperation in this direction. Following the results of a positive decision of the BAS management, the exchange of experience between the JIC BAS and the Scientific-Practical Center under the Ministry of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan will be intensified.
During the negotiations with the Deputy Executive Director of the Bulgarian Agency for the Support of Small and Medium Enterprises Yana Topalova, an exchange of views took place, ideas for the development of an innovative ecosystem were discussed. The parties expressed interest in establishing cooperation on the exchange of experience and implementation of joint scientific-research activities between the National Innovation Fund of Bulgaria and the Fund for Supporting Innovative Development and Innovative Ideas under the Ministry of Innovation.
