Five boxers from Uzbekistan reach the quarterfinals of the World Amateur Championship in Yekaterinburg

The 2019 world amateur championship is presently under way in Yekaterinburg, Russia. After almost two thirds of the tourney, the championship is about to enter its most important rounds – quarterfinals (on Wednesday), semifinals (on Friday) and finals (on Saturday) – with Thursday being the championship’s single day off.

Making it to the quarterfinals of the tournament, five of the six Uzbek boxers Shahobiddin Zoirov (52 kg), Miraziz Mirzakhalilov (57 kg), Bobousmon Baturov (69 kg), Dilshodbek Ruzmetov (81) and Bahodir Jalolov (+91 kg) will compete today

Only Sanjar Tursunov, one of the favorites of our team in the tournament, lost in the 1/8 finals. He was defeated by Sanjeet of India in the heavy weight category.

Russia and Kazakhstan reached the quarterfinals with 7 and 6 athletes respectively. 

The 20th amateur boxing world championship is held from September 7 to September 21, 2019 in the city of Yekaterinburg, Russia. The championship is attended by 467 athletes from 88 countries.
