Gérard Depardieu appointed Uzbekistan’s Tourism Ambassador to France
A famous actor Gérard Depardieu will soon become Uzbekistan’s Tourism Ambassador to France.
This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
“In the tourism sector, attention to the film industry is growing. One of the most important news today is the arrival of the famous French actor Gérard Depardieu to Uzbekistan.
The actor said that he heard about reforms in the Uzbek tourism and came to see the changes,” Abdukhakimov said at a press conference on Monday.
Reportedly, these days the process of shooting a 52-minute telefilm is underway in Samarkand to showcase Uzbekistan’s attractions to the whole Europe.

“It is important to note that during the conversation, Gérard Depardieu has pledged to promote the image of Uzbekistan in Europe. Based on this, we appointed him as Uzbekistan’s Tourism Ambassador to France.
The ceremonial event will be held soon. This appointment will undoubtedly give us new opportunities,” Aziz Abdukhakimov said.
