On December 17, 2019, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Ilhom Nematov met with the Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Xie Xiaoyong, who arrived in our country as the head of the SCO Election Observation Mission to observe the parliamentary elections on December 22, the MFA press service reported.
It was noted during the meeting that 20 observers are expected to participate from the SCO, 9 of which have already arrived in Uzbekistan.
As emphasized in the conversation, a number of innovations are introduced in the elections aimed at further democratization of the electoral process.
The parties also discussed pressing issues of strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and the SCO.
