Uzbekistan, Malaysia discuss issues of strengthening trade-economic and investment cooperation
On February 7, 2020, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ravshan Usmanov met in Kuala Lumpur with the Economic Adviser to Prime Minister of Malaysia Muhammed Abdul Khalid.
During the negotiations, issues of further developing bilateral cooperation, attracting the Malaysian business community to implement joint high-tech investment projects in advanced sectors of the economy were discussed.
The necessity of intensifying cooperation in the field of conducting joint research projects focused on the commercialization of their results and the creation of specialized industrial parks for organizing modern production facilities and manufacturing export-oriented products was also indicated. It is noted that such parks should become drivers of economic growth in Uzbekistan.
The Ambassador handed over an invitation letter to Muhammed Abdul Khalid to the Tashkent International Investment Forum on March 5-6, 2020. It is stated that this forum is the first large-scale event aimed at providing comprehensive information about the resource-economic potential and the completely new business climate of our country. It also presents an expedient platform for reaching specific agreements between representatives of Uzbek-Malaysian business circles.
In order to further develop trade-economic and investment cooperation effectively between the two countries, the need to resume the work of the Joint Trade Committee with its 3rd meeting this year was emphasized.
