SSS officers discover three major corruption cases in the khokimiyat, DIA and higher education system

The State Security Service, in cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office and the Interior Ministry, prevented a number of corruption and fraud cases.

It turned out that an official working at the Capital Construction Department under the Tashkent city administration, abusing his official position, promised to register 1-hectare vacant land plot, located between apartment buildings in the Chilanzar district, to a citizen who wanted to do business and demanded $1.4 million.

During the operational event carried out by the Tashkent City Department of the State Tax Service in cooperation with the city prosecutor’s office and the DIA, the fraudster was caught with material evidence while receiving $50,000 of the agreed amount.

In the course of the initial interrogation, it became clear that the detainee had to give the money to a senior official working as a department head in the Chilanzar district administration. Thus, the operational event was continued and the municipal official was also arrested while receiving $50,000.

A similar situation was reported in the Tashkent region. In particular, a senior officer of the Yangiyul district DIA promised to help a citizen become head of one of the branches of the Chinabad Oil Base LLC and demanded $50,000 from him.

During an operational event held by SSS officers and the prosecuting bodies, he was detained while receiving $10,000 of the agreed money near the MIA Central Hospital in Tashkent.

It should be noted that at the moment, as the entrance exams to higher educational institutions are approaching, unfortunately, there are cases of corruption in this sphere as well.

In particular, during a joint operation held by the Samarkand regional SSS department and the regional DIA, an employee of the Samarkand State University, along with a senior teacher who was a member of the admission committee for the 2020-2021 academic year, was caught red-handed while taking $6,000 in exchange for enrolling two applicants.

A teacher at the Samarkand State Institute of Architecture and Construction promised 2 people to enroll them in the institute where he worked and demanded $5,000 from each of them. He was also detained while receiving $2,000 from each of the applicants.

Currently, criminal proceedings have been instituted in accordance with the relevant articles of the Criminal Code. Appropriate measures are being taken to identify those who are involved in these illegal activities.
