Uzbekistan to conduct energy audits of 285 industrial enterprises
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on additional measures to reduce the dependence of economic sectors on fuel and energy products by increasing the energy efficiency of the economy and utilizing available resources.
The document approved the schedule of mandatory energy audits of enterprises with a total annual consumption of fuel and energy resources of more than two thousand tons of standard fuel or more than one thousand tons of motor fuel for the period 2020-2022.
The head of state instructed within one month to submit proposals to the Cabinet of Ministers on the adoption of rules for conducting energy audits of consumers of fuel and energy resources, providing for:
- creation of a favorable sphere to stimulate energy audits;
- introduction of a market mechanism for selecting an energy auditor;
- creation of an effective tariff regulation mechanism, including with an increased rate for excessive energy consumption, for enterprises that have not complied with recommendations based on the results of energy audits.
In two months, leading companies (local and international) will be involved in energy audits at 285 large industrial enterprises, and the issue of expanding the list of these enterprises will be considered.
